Green Lodge, Maidstone, Kent
In March 2020 we were commissioned to design a new low-energy detached house for a site overlooking Mote Park in Maidstone.
The house is timber-framed, which allowed for exceptionally fast erection on site, and clad in a mixture of Siberian Larch boarding, Kentish Ragstone and through-coloured render.
Creating an eco-friendly, low-energy space
The design combines a high level of insulation and air-tightness with triple glazing, an MVHR heat recovery system and triple glazing, resulting in very low energy consumption. A sedum roof helps reduce the visual impact of the house from Mote Park.
Inside, the ground floor houses two bedrooms and a family bathroom as well as the kitchen/diner in a side wing overlooking the garden. A small office is situated in a pavilion at the end of the wing, raised to see over the park wall.
The master bedroom suite and the main living room are at first floor level, to take advantage of the views over the park.
Contract Value: £300k approx.
Status: Completed 2021
