Castle Acre project
Castle Acre was built just after World War 2 and stands alone in two acres of apple orchard, wildflower meadow and newly planted woodland, with a wonderful view across the Medway Valley.
In 2022 we were asked to design a major extension, keeping to the same vernacular style but providing a new entrance hall, living/dining area, utility room and double garage. This has been achieved by demolishing existing outbuildings and replacing them with an L-shaped extension.
At the same time, we have designed a conversion of the original loft to provide a home office, study bedroom and bathroom, accessed via a new stair. Cabrio balconies have been introduced to both upstairs rooms to take advantage of the views.
All windows have been replaced with high performance aluminium, and the heating system has been replaced by an air source heat pump. A large PV solar panel array has also been installed on the extension.
Contract Value: £300k approx.
