What We Think

Listening is at the core of our approach. We come to every project with an open mind and believe that good design arises from a thorough understanding of the needs and aspirations of the user client. Our job is to help them to visualise their needs and express their ideas, and to give them concrete form through a careful balance of innovation and practicality. That is why we like to be involved in projects from the early stages, helping develop the brief and preparing options studies before developing appropriate aesthetic solutions.

As well as designing new buildings and spaces, we are particularly experienced in working with existing structures, many of them listed or in historic settings. We believe in design that responds to and complements the existing environment whilst avoiding self-conscious pastiche. We adopt a pragmatic approach in resolving potential conflicts in achieving access and DDA compliance in historic buildings.

We are also committed to design for sustainability and encourage clients to incorporate sustainable energy principles in the early stages of design of their buildings.
